Iran, Iraq, Japan and Uzbekistan became the first teams to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 by reaching the semi-finals of the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship which was played between 22 September and 6 October in Iran.
The African U-17 Championship is taking place in Morocco from 13-27 April 2013. The first two teams to qualify for the semi-finals, and therefore for the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013, were Morocco and Tunisia. A few days later, Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria earned the final two spots in the semi-finals and as a result, they booked their tickets to UAE too.
Italy, Russia, Slovakia and Sweden became the first four European teams to secure places at UAE 2013 from the elite qualifying round in Slovakia in May 2013. Austria and Croatia became the final two teams to book passage to UAE 2013 after finishing third in Group A and Group B, respectively.
The CONCACAF U-17 Championship is taking place in Panama from April 6-19 2013. The hosts Panama reached the semi-finals along with Canada to be the first teams from the confederation to book their place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013.
The OFC U-17 Championship will be played from 17 to 25 April in Santo, Vanuatu, with six teams - Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Cook Islands – competing in a round-robin group. The winner will qualify directly for FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013.
Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Uruguay are the teams who qualified from the South American U-17 Football Championship in April 2013. They were the top four sides who will take their place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013..
