Sporting edge Earthquakes to close on summit

CJ Sapong and Kei Kamara scored as Sporting Kansas City defeated San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Sunday.

The win leaves Kansas City two points and two places behind leaders DC United in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference.

San Jose, who scored a consolation goal through Simon Dawkins, lie second in the Western Conference, two points behind Real Salt Lake.
